The Postal Department has announced that approximately 3 million official polling cards for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election have been distributed across the country as of now.
According to the department, the distribution process commenced on September 3rd and is scheduled to continue until September 14th. Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe shared that a special distribution day has been designated for September 8th, despite it being a Sunday.
“Although it’s a Sunday, we have declared it a special day for the distribution of official polling cards. We aim to ensure that polling cards are delivered to each household between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.,” Ranasinghe stated.
He further urged citizens to remain at home on the designated day to ensure they receive the polling cards, which will require a signature upon delivery. “We kindly request residents to be at home to collect their polling cards and sign for them accordingly,” he added. (Newswire)
