The Election Commission released the first official result of the 2024 Presidential Election at 11:32 PM, but it contained an error in the postal vote count for the Ratnapura district.
Accordingly NPP candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake leads the Ratnapura district postal votes with 19,185 votes (60.83%) obtained.
Independent candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe comes in second with 6,641 votes (21.05%).
SJB candidate Sajith Premadasa has obtained 4,675 votes (14.82%) while SLPP candidate Namal Rajapaksa has received 500 votes (1.59%)of the postal votes in the Ratnapura district.
640 out of 31,539 total valid postal votes have been rejected.
