Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa says his efforts to put a new political culture on the stage, without being limited to the politics of slander and promises, have been successful to some extent.

Issuing a statement, MP Namal Rajapaksa thanked the voters who embraced him as the young candidate who came to the presidential battle.

“I also know that there are hundreds of thousands of people who are waiting for our program even though they may not have marked a preference this time. If you wanted to teach us a lesson, we will learn that lesson and be well prepared to face your test again,” he said.

MP Rajapaksa further said that looking at the results of the presidential election, it is evident that the president this time has been decided by the popular mandate of the 6.9 million voters who had previously rejected the opposition.

Extending his support for the new President, the SLPP MP said his party will give its full support to the good work of the government for the people of the country.

“I would like to take this opportunity to offer my and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s best wishes to the current President,” he added. (Newswire)
