A woman has been arrested for the alleged murder of her child, aged 1 ½ years old, in the Galaha area in Kandy.
The Galaha Police said the woman had allegedly choked the child by pinching her nose and preventing her from breathing.
The arrested woman is a 21-year-old resident of 18th Milepost in Galaha, Kandy.
Investigations reveal that the woman along with her child had been residing at a house in the Kasthuriwatte area in Galaha and her husband had been out of the house at the time of the incident.
It is reported that the woman had blocked the child’s breathing by pinching her nose and closing her mouth due to a sudden burst of anger. (Newswire)
