Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa has refuted reports that he will contest from Kurunegala district in the upcoming general election.

Issuing a statement, the former MP’s Office refuted the claims, stating that it was a false publication and that it misled the people.

The statement further said Namal Rajapaksa is grateful to the people of Hambantota district who elected him to Parliament, with the highest number of votes in the last general election and he will continue to engage in politics with the beloved people of the Hambantota district, who gave him his political start.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has not yet decided the districts in which each candidate will contest in the upcoming general election and is yet to come to a final agreement in this regard, it said.

The former MP’s Office pointed out that in such a backdrop, claiming that Namal Rajapakse will contest the upcoming general election from Kurunegala was simply misleading the people and is being done by those looking for political gain. (Newswire)
