Former member of Parliament Nimal Lanza expressed his appreciation to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for carrying forward the economic policies of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, stating that it was crucial for the country’s economic stability.
Lanza made these remarks during a press briefing held at the election office in Wellaweediya, Negombo.
“For the upcoming elections, we will be fielding a strong team of candidates under the cylinder symbol, with the leadership of Ranil Wickremesinghe. Initially, we thought President Anura Kumara would implement the economic plans he introduced before the election, but instead, he has continued with Ranil Wickremesinghe’s economic framework, which we welcome. President Anura Kumara is following in the footsteps of Ranil Wickremesinghe, and we will extend our fullest support for this approach. To rebuild the country, it is essential to continue the policies initiated by Wickremesinghe,” he said.
Lanza also noted that the ability to provide fertilizer subsidies and support to the fishing community was due to the strengthening of economic policies under Wickremesinghe’s leadership. He warned that deviating from these policies could lead to an economic collapse.
“We are focused on building a strong opposition. While we will support President Anura Kumara’s positive actions, we will oppose any mistakes or decisions that burden the people. We call on the public to help us build a powerful and effective opposition,” he added. (Newswire)
