Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that despite one faction winning the recent Presidential Election and a General Election now approaching, his party remains committed to the principle of placing the country first.
He said that the focus should be on addressing the problems faced by the 22 million citizens, providing solutions to their issues, and steering clear of divisive and envious politics.
Premadasa called for a collective effort to lift the nation out of bankruptcy and drive it towards recovery.
Speaking at a meeting with party activists in the Colombo East electorate, Premadasa stressed the need to empower the youth, encouraging them to become entrepreneurs and contribute to the country’s development.
He also noted that addressing the issues faced by the younger generation and finding solutions for them should be a priority.
The SJB Leader further stated that with a significant number of unemployed people in the country, foreign direct investment should be encouraged, and Sri Lanka should focus on creating IT parks and increasing IT exports.
He also stressed the importance of providing world-class education to produce skilled and globally competitive citizens.
As the country prepares for the upcoming General Election, Premadasa highlighted the need to address the challenges faced by the public in a tangible way, rather than through mere rhetoric.
He stated that his party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), would enter the election with a vision of providing progressive solutions within a democratic and people-centric framework, aiming to create a proud generation capable of standing on its own feet. (Newswire)
