A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of today (04) in the Ahangama Police Division, where an elderly couple was found brutally murdered at their residence in Welhengoda, according to police.
The police launched an investigation after receiving a phone call alerting them about a person found lying in a house with severe bleeding injuries. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the victims, a 67-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, had been killed by slitting their throats.
The bodies are scheduled to undergo a magistrate’s examination, while the police are yet to determine the motive behind the murder or identify any suspects.
