Leaking grade 5 scholarship exam questions: police update on investigations

The Police have announced that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the alleged leaking of questions from the Grade 5 scholarship exam held on 15th September 2024.

A complaint was lodged by a Deputy Commissioner of the Examinations Department on 19th September, prompting an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

A 58-year-old official from the National Institute of Education, who is also a member of the exam question committee, was arrested on 22nd September. A 49-year-old teacher from Alawwa was arrested on 24th September. The first suspect reportedly shared seven questions with the teacher, three of which appeared in both the exam and a model paper prepared by the teacher and circulated via social media.

The police confirmed that investigations so far have revealed that only three questions were leaked. Both suspects have been remanded until 7th October, while the CID continues its investigation. Authorities urge the public to report any further evidence regarding leaked questions to local police by 7th October. (NewsWire)
