Four persons were reported dead in three separate murder incidents reported in Sri Lanka in the last 48 hours ending at 06.00 am today.
An elderly couple aged 75 and 67 years old were found dead inside their house in the Welipenna area last afternoon.
Police investigations have revealed that the couple had resided alone, and their bodies were found amidst their belongings having been strewn across the house. The cause of the murder or details on the suspects are yet to be ascertained. The Welipenna Police is conducting investigations.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old woman from Keselwatte with injuries from a sharp weapon had died upon admission to the Colombo National Hospital early this morning.
Police investigations reveal that the victim had been injured during a personal dispute with another person. The suspect involved in the incident has been identified, while the Keselwatte Police have launched investigations into the incident.
Furthermore, a 30-year-old man who was receiving treatment at the Trincomalee Hospital for injuries sustained in a brawl in the Kuchchaveli area on Saturday succumbed to injuries at the hospital yesterday.
The Police said the victim and his brother, who had been heavily intoxicated, had engaged in a brawl, during which the victim had been stabbed with a knife and attacked with a garden spade. The Kuchchaveli Police has launched investigations to apprehend the suspect. (Newswire)
