Board meetings for statutory bodies and other government institutions have been suspended, following a directive of the Prime Minister’s office.
Prime Minister’s Secretary Pradeep Saputhantri said that heads of institutions have been advised to refrain from making any administrative decisions during this time.
While some boards have already appointed new chairpersons, the relevant ministers must appoint suitable heads for the remaining boards.
Meanwhile, the secretaries of the Ministries of Justice, Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Labour, Women, Children and Youth Affairs, Sports, Trade, Commerce, Food Security, Cooperative Development, Industrial and Entrepreneurial Development, and Health have been informed to temporarily suspend board meetings of institutions under these ministries.
Saputhantri also noted that it is the responsibility of the new ministers to appoint new presidents and heads for these institutions. (Newswire)
