Two deaths due to drowning, including that of a child, have been reported in two separate incidents in the last 48 hours ending at 06.00 am today.
A four-year-old child had died after falling into a water canal in the Dankotuwa area last afternoon.
The child who had been rescued from the canal had died upon admission at the Dankotuwa Hospital.
Meanwhile, a 76-year-old man had died while bathing in Menik Ganga in the Buththala area on Monday evening.
As the man had not returned home, a search operation was conducted after which his body was found near the bathing spot last morning. (Newswire)
