The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory for heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas effective until 01.00 pm tomorrow (Oct 15).
A low-pressure area formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal today and is likely to become a well-marked low-pressure area moving west northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts during the next 2 days.
Accordingly, very strong winds of about 60-70 kmph, accompanied by heavy rainfalls and very rough seas are likely over the sea areas bounded by (06N – 12N) and (81E – 93E).
The naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into the sea areas marked by the “Warning” category on the map below, until further notice. (Newswire)
