The Government has approved an increase in the maximum expenditure limit for the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission’s raid imprest account, raising it from Rs. 50 million to Rs. 150 million.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal tabled by the President in order to support the government’s anti-corruption drive.
The raid advance account is used to fund operations conducted by the commission in its efforts to combat bribery and corruption.
The decision to raise the limit was raised following concerns that the previous cap was insufficient, given the unpredictable nature of bribery cases and the high amounts of money often involved, the Government said. (Newswire)
