The Colombo High Court has issued an arrest warrant for former Minister Johnston Fernando after he failed to appear in court for a case filed by the Bribery Commission.
The court’s decision came, following Fernando’s absence in connection with the ongoing legal proceedings.
In a separate development, Johnston Fernando was seen arriving at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) earlier today to record a statement concerning the use of an illegally assembled luxury vehicle.
Johnston Fernando reported to the CID, after having informed the Court of Appeal yesterday that he will provide a statement regarding an illegally assembled luxury car, allegedly belonging to him, found in Colombo.
The illegally assembled luxury vehicle of former Minister Johnston Fernando, identified as a BMW, was seized by law enforcement authorities while parked at a prominent hotel in Colombo recently. (Newswire)
