NDB Bank is proud to announce its partnership with the 5th Annual Life Short Film Competition (LSFC), a platform dedicated to fostering and empowering local filmmaking talent. Born during the challenging times of the COVID-19 lockdown, the LSFC has grown into an influential event in Sri Lanka’s film industry, inspiring amateur filmmakers to showcase their creativity and storytelling abilities.
This year’s competition took place with Emmy and BAFTA-nominated judges on the panel, adding an esteemed level of credibility and recognition. The LSFC, continuing its online format on platforms like YouTube and Facebook, invited participants to create a 5-minute short film within one week, all centred around the theme of “Restoration.” Teams were presented with a unique challenge by receiving a packet that contained a secret object, word, and action that had to be incorporated into their films—ensuring originality and creativity while adhering to the competition timeframe.
The Awards Ceremony celebrated young talent by recognising their achievements across 10 categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography, with each award also presenting a cash prize of LKR 20,000, further encouraging the growth of these budding filmmakers.
Through initiatives like the LSFC, NDB Bank continues to support young artists and filmmakers, ensuring that they have the platform and resources needed to pursue their passion and make a meaningful impact on the Sri Lankan film landscape. This partnership is part of NDB’s broader commitment to investing in the future of the country’s youth and creative talent.
