A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the theft of Rs. 75 million from a van belonging to a Cash in Transit Service, in Minuwangoda on Monday morning.
The Minuwangoda Police and the Gampaha Division Crimes Investigation Unit launched a probe into the theft by a man employed as a driver of a private firm.
Officials from the Gampaha Division Crimes Investigation Unit arrested a 35-year-old man in the Kaduwangaha area in Gampaha last afternoon based on a tip-off.
The man was in possession of 05.420 grams of ICE at the time of his arrest, while further interrogation led the Police to find Rs. 31,515,291 cash from the stolen cash.
The arrested suspect is a resident of Makawita. The Minuwangoda Police and the Gampaha Division Crimes Investigation Unit are conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
