A 48-year-old man was reported dead after being shot by unidentified gunmen in the Dickwella area early this morning (21 Nov).
The Police said the victim is a resident of Walasgala and was employed as a driver.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a case was being deliberated in courts against the victim for having sought ransom from an individual using the name of an organized criminal in hiding.
The Police said that an investigation has been launched to ascertain any links between the shooting and the court case.
The Dickwella Police is conducting investigations to apprehend the suspects involved in the shooting. (Newswire)
