Seven former Members of Parliament (MPs) have vacated their official residences in the Madiwela complex as of yesterday, according to Lankadeepa newspaper.
The former MPs were informed by Parliament’s Secretary General Kushani Rohandheera, that their water and electricity supply would be cut off if they did not vacate the premises immediately. Written notices were issued to the MPs in this regard in recent days, the report said.
The new MPs are due to receive official residences at the Madiwela complex starting December 3.
MPs without accommodation within a 40-kilometer radius of Colombo will be eligible for housing at this complex. (Newswire)
