President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with small and medium-scale rice mill owners today (02) at the Presidential Secretariat to discuss measures to ensure a continuous and affordable rice supply for consumers in the coming months.
The President stressed on the need for immediate actions to achieve this goal and explored ways to enhance storage facilities nationwide to prevent shortages and maintain a steady supply, the President’s Media Division said.
The discussion also addressed concerns over the declining availability of Nadu rice for consumption, attributed to its increased use in value-added products.
President Dissanayake proposed introducing a QR code system to streamline fertilizer subsidy distribution and boost domestic agricultural production.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe, Lak Sathosa Chairman Dr. Samitha Perera, other officials, and rice mill owners. (Newswire)
