A video featuring controversial Jaffna district MP Archchuna Ramanathan has surfaced, where the MP appears to demand hospital authorities to address him as ‘Sir’.
In the video, the MP can be heard addressing the Hospital Director and threatening him to leave the country.
“Now at this point you are supposed to call me Sir. I’m a member of Parliament.”
“You should know who I am now. Whether you like it or not Dr. Sathiyamoorthy, now this is going to be a big trouble. You better run to some other country, because there are so many complaints regarding you,”
“The administration is under me whether you like it or not,” the MP is heard warning the Hospital Director.
The MP later published the video on his Facebook page, claiming that the clip is a 30 second video taken out of a 45 minute conversation he had with the Hospital authorities.
“If you have guts release the entire one,” the MP said in his Facebook post.
On Monday, a complaint was lodged against MP Ramanathan, alleging that he behaved disruptively at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
The complaint, lodged by Hospital Director Dr. T. Sathiyamoorthy alleged that the MP’s conduct interfered with the duties of the medical staff.
According to the Police, the hospital’s management reported the incident to the Jaffna Police.
