President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has warned of action against those found to have committed an offence, irrespective of their status.

“No matter a person’s rank or status, if they commit an offence, they will face appropriate consequences,” President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

According to a statement from the President’s Office, the President made the statement during a meeting with the heads of media institutions today.

President Dissanayake further said that the people had granted power to the National Peoples’ Power (NPP) to build and stabilize the country.

The President stressed that the government will not allow the people’s trust to be broken or misused in any manner.

“Our government is not ready to protect any person that commits an offence for any reason. Not only in the country, but even within the government, if any person commits an offence action will be initiated against them. We will not hesitate to take all necessary action at the required time,” he warned.

President Dissanayake added that the government will work unconditionally to protect the public’s trust in the government and to develop the nation. (Newswire)
