A 32-year-old father of one was shot dead last night (14) in the Nagahawatta area of Meegoda while traveling in a car. Two unidentified individuals carried out the shooting, targeting the victim as he was on his way home. One assailant reportedly stopped the vehicle while the other opened fire. The critically injured victim was rushed to the Homagama Base Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
At the time of the incident, the victim’s wife and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter were in the vehicle but were unharmed.
Meanwhile, a separate shooting incident was reported in the Maligakanda area last afternoon (14), leaving one person critically injured. According to reports, an unidentified gunman arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire, and fled the scene on the same vehicle. The victim who was a woman has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with severe injuries.
Investigations are underway in both cases to identify the suspects. (Newswire)
