The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an inquiry into the listing of erroneous details in the title before Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara’s name on the parliamentary website.

A CID team visited Parliament on Friday (Dec 20) to record statements from three parliamentary officials on the incident.

Several documents used as the basis for entering the information on the website, had also been handed over to the CID by the officials.

Last week Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara filed a complaint with the CID calling for a probe into the listing of his name with the title of ‘Dr’. The inclusion and the resulting circumstances were defamatory, the Minister said.

The Parliament of Sri Lanka acknowledged that details regarding the qualifications of Minister of Justice, Attorney-at-Law, Harshana Nanayakkara on the Parliament website were wrong, citing erroneous data. (Newswire)
