Police have confirmed that a gunshot incident occurred at a tourist hotel in Kalutara South following a conflict between the hotel’s security personnel and a group of outsiders.
According to police reports, a confrontation ensued between a group of young individuals consuming alcohol on the nearby beach and the hotel’s security staff. The situation escalated when one of the security personnel was reportedly assaulted by the group.
Initial investigations revealed that a senior hotel security official, attempting to control the altercation, discharged a licensed firearm into the air to diffuse the tension.
No injuries were reported from the gunfire, and the group involved fled the scene. Police have launched further investigations into the incident. (Newswire)
