The Department of Meteorology says showers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Matara districts in the afternoon or night today.
Heavy showers of about 100 mm can be expected in some places, while a few showers will occur in Uva province.
Fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, Eastern, Northcentral and North-western provinces and Hambantota district.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Newswire)
