A medical panel has been appointed to assess the health condition of murder convict Duminda Silva, who is currently receiving treatment at the prison hospital, Prison Media Spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake said.
The panel, formed by the Director General of Health Services at the request of the Department of Prisons, will evaluate whether Silva, who has been sentenced to death, requires continued inpatient care.
The evaluation is expected to take place in the coming days, with a report to be submitted to the Department of Prisons.
Dissanayake also denied allegations that Silva had been provided with a separate toilet facility.
He added that prior inspections of Silva’s premises did not uncover any mobile phones or other prohibited devices. (Newswire)
