Sri Lanka Police says a reduction in accidents has been noted following the special vehicle inspection operation launched recently.
Addressing the media today, Police Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manatunga said the special operation has been highly successful since its launch on 22 December 2024.
He said fatal road accidents have reduced by 04 to 05 incidents per day, while serious accidents or those resulting in serious injuries have also dropped by 08 -10 incidents.
SSP Buddhika Manatunga further requested all drivers and owners of vehicles used for public transportation and other vehicles to remove all illegal parts from their vehicles.
He added that even if various parties attempt to block this vehicle operation, the Sri Lanka Police will continue conducting it. (Newswire)
