The Tourist Police of the Kandy Police Headquarters has arrested an individual with a US Passport who had overstayed in Sri Lanka for over 10 months violating visa conditions.
The Police said the suspect had arrived in Sri Lanka on 31 December 2023 and had stayed at a hotel in Kandy.
His visa had expired on 30 March 2024 and the man had remained in the country without extending or renewing his visa, while his US passport contains a Sri Lankan name.
Interrogation of the hotel staff had revealed that the man had remained inside the hotel room for most of the time using his laptop. (Newswire)
