Action has been taken against the owner, driver, and conductor of a bus that had dropped off passengers in the middle of the road amidst the Police vehicle inspection programme launched under the government’s ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ project.
It is reported that the bus, a route 100 from Panadura- Pettah, had dropped off passengers in the middle of the road and left when the Police had attempted to take action for violating road rules.
As such, the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has suspended the driver and conductor of the bus from duty until 15 January 2025, while it had also imposed a fine of Rs. 2500 on the driver and Rs. 750 on the conductor.
The Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority further warned that if the two of them work in another bus within that period, the licence of the respective bus will be revoked.
Arrangements have also been made for the duo to attend a training on 21 January 2025.
Furthermore, the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has also suspended the road licence of the bus in question until 10 January 2025 subject to an investigation. (Newswire)
