The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued a yellow-level (Level 1) landslide alert for the Badulla, Kandy, Kurunegala, and Matale districts, following rainfall exceeding 75mm over the past 24 hours.
The alert will remain in effect from 4:00 PM today (14) until 4:00 PM tomorrow (15), with residents advised to remain vigilant, the NBRO said.
Meanwhile, over 100 individuals from more than 25 families in Senanayakapura and Samapura, Ampara, have been evacuated due to the risk of Gal Oya river bunds breaching.
Ampara District Secretary said that while erosion has occurred along the riverbanks, no breaches have been reported yet. (Newswire)
