Four suspects who had aided the shooting incident reported in Watarappala Road in Mount Lavinia earlier this month have been arrested by the Western Province South Crimes Unit.
On 07 January, gunmen had forcibly entered a house on Watarappala Road claiming to be from the Police and had shot dead two individuals who were asleep.
Two individuals aged 36 and 20 years had died in the shooting, with investigations revealing that they were relatives.
The two gunmen had shot at the victims using a 09 mm firearm and a flintlock-type gun, while the motorcycle used by them had been found abandoned in Horana on the day of the shooting.
Preliminary investigations found that the motorcycle belonged to a dancer residing in Meegoda, but had been stolen during the Perehera of the Ambulgala Temple on 04 January.
On the instructions of an organized criminal living overseas, the stolen motorcycle had been used to carry out the shooting.
Interrogation of the arrested suspects had found that they had aided the shooting for packets of heroin and ICE.
The Police suspect the shooting may have been a result of a conflict between two organized criminals. (Newswire)
