Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake continues his four-day state visit to China, beginning the third day by participating in an investment session scheduled for this morning.
According to the President’s Office, the “Investment Session,” jointly organized by public and private sector entities, will be held under the patronage of President Dissanayake, marking a key highlight of the visit.
Following this, the President is set to pay tribute at the Monument to the People’s Heroes, laying a floral wreath to honour their legacy.
Later in the afternoon, President Dissanayake is scheduled to meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, to engage in discussions on further strengthening bilateral relations.
Sri Lanka and China yesterday strengthened their bilateral ties by signing 15 agreements covering various fields.
The agreements were signed during an official meeting between President Dissanayake and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing last afternoon.
Providing details on the signed agreements, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath said the two Heads of State discussed key matters related to economy, culture, and politics.
He further said that following the discussions, 15 bilateral agreements were signed covering the fields of economy, culture, education, and media.
“Sri Lanka will greatly benefit from these agreements and China’s support. Chinese President Xi Jinping has also assured China’s continued support for Sri Lanka,” the minister said.
Minister Vijitha Herath added that China has promised to assist Sri Lanka through various means, such as aids, while Sri Lanka has also assured to strengthen the ties between the two nations going forward. (Newswire)
