The Department of Railways has launched an investigation after a video surfaced online showing foreign tourists receiving massages inside a train carriage.
General Manager of Railways Dhammika Jayasundara said the train had been rented by a private entity for tourism purposes. He added that while organizations can rent trains by paying a fee, the department had not been informed about the massage activity.
“This did not happen on a train used for regular operations. An investigation is underway, and we have also informed the Tourist Police to look into it. Steps will be taken to recover any losses from those responsible,” Jayasundara said.
Authorities are examining how the incident occurred without prior disclosure and are working to determine accountability. The inquiry will also evaluate whether additional regulations are needed for private rentals. (Newswire)
