The Cabinet of Ministers has approved key appointments to the Department of Civil Defence, and the Ministries of Lands and Agriculture.
Retired Major General of the Sri Lanka Army Palitha Fernando has been appointed Director General of the Department of Civil Defence, a post that remained vacant since 01 January 2025.
The Cabinet has approved his appointment with immediate effect on contract basis for a period of 01 year.
Meanwhile, Special Grade officer in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service Chandana Saman Ranaweera Aarachchi has been appointed as the Commissioner General of Lands.
The Cabinet has approved his appointment taking into consideration the requirements of the Ministry of Lands.
Furthermore, Mrs. E.R.P.S. Edirimanne has been appointed the Commissioner General of Agriculture.
The Cabinet approved the appointment to fill the vacancy following the retirement of the current Commissioner General this week. (Newswire)
