A suspect in possession of a foreign-manufactured automatic firearm, along with its magazine and five live rounds of ammunition, was apprehended by officers from the Moragahahena Police Station.
The arrest was made during a raid conducted on January 25, 2025, in the Magammana area within the Kahatuduwa Police Division, based on a tip-off received by the officers. The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Kahatuduwa Police Station for further proceedings.
The suspect, a 43-year-old resident of Magammana, Homagama, is currently under investigation.
Both the Kahatuduwa and Moragahahena Police Stations are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
