Sri Lanka Police says 249 suspects directly involved in crimes have been arrested within a period of 12 days during the special operation launched to curtail crimes in the nation.
According to the Police, 4020 suspects against whom warrants had been issued were also arrested since the launch of the special operation on 12 January 2025.
During the operation, the Police had inspected 277,572 persons and 104.844 vehicles.
Stating that the operation also focuses on curtailing robberies and house break-ins, the Police added that a drop in such crimes has been noted since the launch of the special operation. (Newswire)
