Sri Lanka Police says a significant drop in fatal road accidents has been reported since the launch of the special vehicle inspection operation in December 2024.
According to the Police, 129 road accidents had been reported between 01-25 January 2025, while a total of 155 road accidents had been reported during the same period in 2024.
The Police point out that a significant drop of 26 fatal accidents has been reported in the last 24 days, compared to last year.
Stating that the special vehicle inspection operation will continue, the Police said officers in civil attire have been deployed on public transports to apprehend those driving recklessly. (Newswire/ Image- Accident1st)
