Sri Lanka Police have arrested 84 suspects involved in shooting incidents, and seized three T-56 weapons and 05 pistols used in shootings, as well as motorcycles used to carry out the crimes, within the last 03 months.
According to the Police, measures are also being taken to apprehend the underworld figures residing overseas who are found to be behind the attacks.
The Police further said the suspect along with the weapon used in the recent shooting in Dehiwala was taken into custody within 10-15 minutes of the incident due to the police mobile patrol units and checkpoints established to curtail crimes.
Meanwhile, all the suspects involved in the shooting near the Mannar Court were arrested within 04 to five days of the incident, they added.
