Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in Uva Province and parts of Batticaloa, Ampara, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Hambantota districts today (Jan. 31), the Meteorology Department said.
Northern and North-Central provinces, as well as Trincomalee, may experience intermittent showers, while evening or nighttime thundershowers are likely in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and parts of Galle, Matara, and Kandy.
Showers or thundershowers are also expected in sea areas from Trincomalee to Galle via Batticaloa and Hambantota, with possible rainfall in other surrounding waters in the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly at speeds of 25-35 kmph, increasing to 40-45 kmph at times in sea areas from Negombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Meanwhile, misty conditions are expected in the morning hours in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces.
