The “Clean Western Province” program, aligned with the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, was launched today (February 3) under the leadership of Western Province Governor Haniff Yusuf.

The campaign commenced with a cleaning program at the Malabe Public Bus Stand and its surrounding areas. This initiative will continue for a week, from February 3 to February 9, 2025, with the participation of all government institutions and the general public across the Western Province.

Today’s cleaning program at the Malabe Bus Stand and its vicinity saw the participation of Member of Parliament Kaushalya Ariyaratne from the National People’s Power (NPP), the Chief Secretary of the Western Provincial Council, government officials, representatives from local government bodies, volunteers, and members of the public. Activities included removing garbage, cleaning public restrooms, and enhancing the overall environment to make it more appealing.

Under the guidance of the Governor, the Western Province aims to conduct 5,000 cleaning programs as part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative. Today’s program in Malabe marked a significant milestone in this broader effort.

Beyond this dedicated cleaning week, a special day has been designated every Friday to maintain cleanliness and environmental sustainability without disrupting daily official duties.

This campaign is part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” cleaning week (from February 3 to February 9, 2025), with the goal of creating a cleaner and more attractive environment across the Western Province. Additionally, several other programs are set to be implemented in the coming weeks. (NewsWire)
