Ragama Police have launched an investigation into the murder of a 76-year-old woman in the Thalagolla area on the evening of February 5.
According to initial reports, the victim was found inside her home with her throat slit and her body set on fire. She had been living with her husband, who was away at work at the time. He discovered the crime upon returning home and alerted authorities.
The motive remains unclear. The body has been sent to the Ragama Hospital mortuary for further examination.
Police are conducting an extensive investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible. (NewsWire)
