A total of 554 Sri Lankans have been recruited by the Russian military for the war in Ukraine, with 59 confirmed dead, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath informed Parliament today.
He stated that Sri Lankan diplomatic missions confirmed the deaths and are working on gathering more information.
The government is taking steps to ensure the safety of Sri Lankans involved in the conflict and is engaging with Russian authorities on the matter.
