The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched a probe into Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa’s law qualification.
According to the Police, the Citizen’s Movement against Bribery, Corruption, and Waste had filed a complaint with the CID raising suspicions over the manner in which the law qualification had been obtained.
The complaint had been filed based on recent revelations by a news website that MP Namal Rajapaksa had been assisted by two lawyers during his final law exams.
Filing the complaint, the Citizen’s Movement against Bribery, Corruption, and Waste called on the authorities to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter.
Based on the facts, the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) has instructed the CID to conduct a probe into the complaint. (Newswire)
