The police have announced a reward of Rs. 1 million for anyone providing successful information regarding the shooting incident in the Wellawe and Maraluwawa areas.
Issuing a statement, the Police Media Division stated that the anonymity of informants would be strictly protected.
The reward will be granted through the Police Reward Fund, as per the decision of Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya.
A resident of the Vasala Apartment in Maraluwawa, within the Wellawe Police Division, was shot and killed with a T56 firearm on the night of December 24, 2024.
Investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Wellawe Police and the Kurunegala Division Criminal Investigation Unit.
