A man has been murdered after being attacked with a club following a dispute arising from an illicit affair.
The incident was reported from the Patinawatta area in Pothupitiya.
The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old resident of Kalawana, Veddagala.
According to reports, the crime took place at the residence where a woman, who had separated from her husband, was temporarily staying. It is alleged that the woman was involved in an illicit relationship with another man.
On Valentine’s Day night, while the woman and her illicit partner were at home, her legally wedded husband arrived at the residence.
A heated argument ensued, during which the husband reportedly attacked the other man with a club.
Frightened by the altercation, the woman fled the house.
The injured victim was admitted to the Kalawana Hospital but succumbed to his injuries yesterday (15).
A 39-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, and further investigations are being conducted by the Pothupitiya Police. (NewsWire)
