Police have launched an investigation into the fatal stabbing of a man in the Bloemendhal railway area under the Kotahena Police Division.
According to the police, the incident occurred on the night of February 18 and the victim was a 22-year-old resident of Mattakkuliya.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim had arrived near the Bloemendhal railway area with his wife following a phone call. A person at the location had then led him to another spot, where a group of individuals on motorcycles attacked him with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene.
The motive behind the murder and the identities of the suspects remain unknown. The victim’s body has been placed under police security at the scene, pending a magistrate’s inquiry.
