An individual who had taken on rent luxury SUVs, for nearly Rs. 500 million, and sold them to other persons has been taken into Police custody, it was reported.
According to the Athurugiriya Police, the man was arrested with 30 vehicles that had been sold in such a manner.
Police investigations reveal that the man had approached rental services and had rented luxury vehicles providing documents for a fake company and sold the vehicles for a lesser price than the current market rate to others.
The arrested individual is a resident of the Galvarusawa area in Athurugiriya and is reported to have parked the luxury vehicles in a house in the area.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the man had sold a vehicle worth Rs. 25 million for Rs. 20 million and had defrauded individuals claiming that the vehicle ownership documents would be handed over in a few days after the sale. (Newswire/ Image- File pic)
