Police in Kotahena are investigating a homicide-related arms supply case following a fatal shooting on Feb. 21. Two individuals on a motorbike fired a gun, resulting in a death, authorities said.
The Colombo North Division Crime Investigation Unit arrested a 28-year-old suspect on Feb. 23 in the Methsanda Savan area of Modara. The suspect, a Modara resident, is believed to have ties to an organized criminal abroad and a local drug trafficker, investigators said.
Authorities determined the suspect facilitated the crime by arranging transport for the gunman and supplying the firearm and ammunition. Investigators also linked the suspect to another homicide in Kotahena on Feb. 10, in which he allegedly provided the weapon used.
The suspect has been handed over to Kotahena police for further investigation. (NewsWire)
