The Attorney General has directed the CID not to arrest the OIC of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and five others over the 2023 shooting incident near a hotel in Weligama. This decision follows an agreement reached between the AG and the petitioners’ lawyers.
However, the directive does not apply to IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, who remains the only officer subject to arrest in connection with the case.
